2026 - MAY 24-26 INTERNATIONAL MORPHOLOGY MEETING - LINGUISTICS BUDAPEST

The 22nd International Morphology Meeting (IMM22) is scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from May 28 to May 31, 2026. Conference Theme: Atypical Morphology

The central theme of IMM22 is Atypical Morphology, focusing on morphological phenomena that challenge traditional theoretical boundaries. Topics of interest include:

  • Theory-challenging morphological processes
  • Constraint-violating and rule-bending word formation and inflection
  • Marginal word formation processes
  • Morphological characteristics of dominantly isolating languages
  • Non-agglutinative features in agglutinative languages

In addition to the main theme, submissions on any other aspects of morphology are also welcome.

Workshops

The conference will feature two to four workshops. Proposals for these workshops are invited, with a submission deadline of August 18, 2025.

Call for Papers

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: October 31, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: February 15, 2026
  • Abstract Requirements: 2-page abstracts for 20-minute presentations (plus 10 minutes for discussion) or posters
  • Submission Limits: One individual and one joint authorship abstract (or two joint authorship ones) per person

Abstracts should be submitted via the conference’s online services. The submission URL will be announced in subsequent call circulars and on the conference website.
